The Florida Legislature initiated this project in 1996. The North Central Florida and Withlacoochee Regional Planning Councils, in partnership with the Florida DOT, established the I-75 Corridor Council to promote tourism and improve the appearance of the I-75 Corridor, the "main street" of North Central Florida.
