Office History and Location

In July, 1990, Joe Montalto, Jr. opened the Gainesville Branch of Lochrane Engineering, Inc. The office is a branch of the main company located in Orlando, Florida. Since that time, the Gainesville Branch Office has expanded to twenty staff members. Our total company staff is now at 75 people. The office is located in downtown Gainesville in the Seagle Building (see image to the left). Our offices occupy most of the third floor.

Office Experience

The Gainesville Branch of Lochrane Engineering, Inc. is now responsible for all of the Florida Department of Transportation Projects within the State of Florida. Most of our work comes from the District 2 and District 3 Offices of the Department, although LOCHRANE has completed some work for District 5 as well. LOCHRANE has completed fourteen (14) enhancement projects for District 2 including the following:
  • The Jacksonville / Baldwin Railtrail, approximately 16 miles in length, in Duval County
  • The addition of landscaping and lighting for the Confederate Park, a historic park in the City of Jacksonville
  • Approximately 1.5 miles of sidewalk along Orange Street in the City of Starke
  • Multiple other sidewalk projects, primarily for District 2
  • Wildflower plantings, approximately 67 miles
The District 5 completed enhancement projects consisted of a Scenic Gateway project in the City of Ocala (median landscaping, special signage, and irrigation) and a sidewalk project along SR 200 in Ocala (1.2 miles in length). LOCHRANE also has three enhancement projects currently underway in District 3. The projects include a 2 mile long recreation trail near Gulf Breeze, a 1.5 mile long sidewalk project in Valparaiso, and a sidewalk project in Franklin County. Many of these projects are described in greater detail in the LOCHRANE resumes.
